Starring A-list actors Rowoon and Jo Bo-ah, Destined With You has become one of the most hit South Korean dramas on Netflix. Aside from the protagonists, the series’ antagonist, who is played by Girl’s Day member Yura, has also impressed viewers with her performance.
The K-pop singer/actress is known for playing negative roles in K-dramas. However, her on-screen persona has made her the target of hate comments. In episode 832 of MBC’s Radio Star, she mentioned that she expected fans to criticize her characters; instead, they cursed at her.
In Destined With You, Yura plays Yoon Na-yeon, Jang Shin-yu’s (played by Rowoon) fiancé and daughter of the mayor. Her character is an insecure, rich person obsessed with Shin-yu.

Yura’s antagonist role as Yoon Na-yeon in Destined With You is pretty impressive. Insecure and controlling, Na-yeon couldn’t accept the fact that Jang Shin-yu wants to leave her and be with Lee Hong-jo (played by Jo Bo-ah).
The scriptwriter has added all kinds of insecurities to Na-yeon’s character. In her school days, she was a bully who harassed Hong-jo to the extent that she had to leave school. Moreover, she emotionally manipulates Shin-yu while cheating on him. She also plots revenge on the couple with Hong-jo’s stalker. Given the character’s depiction, viewers naturally hates Yura’s role in Destined With You.
However, the K-pop singer/actress recently mentioned on Radio Star that she receives viewers’ hate instead of her negative characters. She said, “I starred in a drama called ‘Forecasting Love and Weather.’ In the [drama], I commit adultery with Min Young’s future husband. And I felt like I got all the hate I would’ve gotten throughout my life.”
She continues, “So I wished people would say, ‘I hate Yu Jin!’ But instead, everyone was like, ‘Yura, that b*tch!’ Everyone was cursing at me.” She explained that she understood fans’ feelings, but they shouldn’t have directed the hatred towards her. Yura stated, “Yes, feel free to curse at [my character]. But they cursed at me, not the character!”
In Forecasting Love and Weather, Yura plays Chae Yoo-jin, Song Kang’s girlfriend, who leaves him after having an affair with Yoon Park, who cheats on his girlfriend for Yoo-jin.
After Destined With You’s success, Yura will next be seen in her debut film, Marrying the Mafia: Returns. She will star opposite Hyun-min Yoon.
